There is something powerful about the word equality. The definition of equality is “the state of being equal”. Equal is defined as being the same in value, worth, degree, rights, and opportunities.

When studying math we are taught that one side of the equation should equal the other side of the equation. If they do not equal each other, then they are not balanced and are not right. We need to go back and take a look at the equation and fix what is wrong in order to make it right.

I know that comparing math formulas to human lives is not the best illustration; however I believe that we can learn from this scientific method which proves to be right and apply it to our lives.

There are 4 biblical truths that we need to learn or be reminded of today. They are a 4 No’s we need to declare over the world today. And they are the following:

God shows us this very clearly; there is to be no favouritism among us as people, especially as christians.

“My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favour some people over others?
For example, suppose someone comes into your meeting dressed in fancy clothes and expensive jewelry, and another comes in who is poor and dressed in dirty clothes. If you give special attention and a good seat to the rich person, but you say to the poor one, “You can stand over there, or else sit on the floor”—well, doesn’t this discrimination show that your judgments are guided by evil motives?” (James 2:1-4)

We need to be careful not to show favouritism as this shows our nature and our hearts.

The bible, which is God’s word, shows us that we are to have no division.

I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.” (1Corinthians 1:10)

“We should have equal concern and love for each other.” (1 Cor. 12:25)

If someone tries to come and bring division among us, then we have the responsibility to warn them and instruct them in how to correct their ways. Our hearts should be one that promotes equality in the concern and love we show each other.

We are all members of God’s household. We belong to each other!

“We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.” (Romans 12:5)

“You are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.” (Ephesians 2:19)

We have a wonderful job to do here on Earth, and this job is to remind everyone that we belong (to be attached, to be bound, to be dependent, to be an attribute) to each other as a family. We are part of each other and of the family of God forever!

God created humankind from one blood and in His image. We are all fearfully and wonderfully created/formed/ made by God Himself.

“And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings.” (Acts 17:26)

“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27)

We are told in the bible to spur each other “consider how we may encourage one another toward love, and good deeds (good and right ways of being)” (Hebrews 10:24). We have an incredible opportunity to show others in the world who we are as people of God, and to show the world the true value, worth, preciousness of every human being that walks this Earth.

How do we demonstrate to the world that everyone is equal, beautiful, worthy, valuable, priceless, loved, cared for, appreciated, and the list goes on and on?

We do it by expressing love, speaking words of love, and most importantly of all, demonstrating LOVE in action!

In order to do this, we need to humble ourselves and be gentle, patient, kind, and forgiving, as these verses below teach us how to be with others in this life.

Philippians 2:3 “In humility consider others more important than yourselves.”

1 John 4:7 “Let us love one another; for love is of God.”

1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, love each other deeply, for love covers a multitude of sins.”

Romans 8:13 “owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.”

Ephesians 4:2 “be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:28

And to end this all…this is so important….”our love should not be just words and talk. It must be true love, which shows itself in action.” (1 John 3:18)
