Doing Life One Drawer (or one step) at a Time

Do you enjoy doing housework? If you are like most people the thought of cleaning out cupboards, closets, bureaus or anything else doesn`t really inspire us.
Anytime I complained to my mother about this, her words of advice would always be the same: “do one drawer at a time each day” which back then I found to be a frustrating suggestion. She would try to explain if I did it that way at the end of the week the job would be accomplished instead of nothing being done at all.
Years later I found my mother’s advice to be sound counsel. Not just for housework, but in many other areas of my life.

In Zechariah 4:10 the Bible says that we are not to despise these small beginnings for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.

In Matthew 25:23 we read “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’

The Bible says in Proverbs 16:9 that a man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.

Has God placed something on your heart that He wants you to do and you don’t know where to begin?

Ask God to show you that first step and then be obedient to do it no matter how small or insignificant you think it may be.
Start with that first drawer.
Take that first step.
God has a purpose and a plan for your life.
Don’t miss out on it. Start today.
