We know it was a significant day, a dark day.
Jesus was crucified and died, because He loved us and gave Himself for us.
It was a day that marked History.
The stone is rolled away from the tomb.
Guards are perplexed.
The resurrectedJesus appears to the women.
Death is swallowed up in victory.
But what about Saturday?
I’m sure it was a day of confusion, of uncertainty.
Jesus had told His disciples of His imminent suffering and death, though they didn’t fully understand.
His mother knew He was the Son of God, but she was heartbroken.
She was grieving as a mother.
Many were hanging onto Jesus’ promises, but they seemed afar off, and a long way from being fulfilled.
Friday was dark.
Saturday was confusing.
What about your” Saturday” in your life?
Have you waited sometimes despaired because of unanswered prayers or
Don’t give up on victory is on its way.
Do you feel as I do, that in this Covid-19 experience, we are at present in the space of “ No man’s land?”
We hang on to the hope that the end of all this is in sight, but at the same to me listen to daily conflicting reports from the media, which are not always encouraging.
It’s a roller coaster ride emotionally.
Our hopes are lifted, then crash again, as we seek to have patience and tolerance as we wait.
It’s the “ Saturday of Waiting” for all this to end.
But as was the case on Easter Sunday God’s Will was done His Purpose in dying was fulfilled.
It was a glorious day!
Our “ glorious day” is coming but we have to go through the agonizing Saturday of Waiting. God has a plan to fulfill in all of this.
Job said to God:
“ I know that you can do all things, no plan of yours can be thwarted” Job 42 v.2.
In a prophecy against Assyria we read in Isaiah 14 v. 26 where God Says:
“This is the plan determined for the whole world, this is the hand stretched out over all nations.
For the Lord Almighty has purposed, who can thwart Him His Hand is stretched out and who can turn it back.”
God is Sovereign.
We must wait for His timing in all of this.
But as we wait let’s get to know God in a deeper way spending time worshipping Him , and praying for our nation of Canada.
